Wahlverwandtschaft (title from a novel by J.W. Goethe, could be translated as: elective affinity / congeniality) 2001 Neue Kunst im Hagenbucher, Heilbronn, Germany For more than 20 years, various people rotated through the shared flat on the third floor of 3, Wieland Street, in Nuremberg. Most of the residents were art students of the Art Academy of Nuremberg. In the year 2000, the current group gave up the rental contract for the flat. The kitchen table, the bench and the kitchen lamp were left over, because they didn't belong to anybody. It is said that these pieces of furniture had been placed in the kitchen when the flat was occupied by the initial group of people, sometime in 1979, and hadn't been removed since. |
