"Arbeit weggeben, arbeit wegnehmen" (Give work away, take work away)
2002
Galerie sox36, Berlin

Spanish farmers leave the work on their plantations to doctors and nurses from Romania, because they accept lower payment than season workers from Morocco do.
I am a free lance academic and take away the work to employed electricians, because I accept to pay my health and social security all on my own.
Do European students take away the work from Mexican immigrants in Arizona, because "Marlboro Summer Job 2002" pays their flight and their lodgement?

This text sticks on the window.

In the space behind, Stephan Kurr exhibits two light boxes, showing him working. From 1998 - 2001 Stephan Kurr made his living by installing in shop windows of banks and insurance companies displays and light boxes (as the ones he is exhibiting at sox36).

In spring 2002, the American tobacco company Phillip Morris started a big campaign in Germany, where young people between 18 and 25 could win a flight to a south-western state of the U.S. and work there for example on a ranch.
